The Portage Lake District Library will launch the final program in a series of SIX about Michigan Forests on Monday, June 2. All are invited to attend “Kids in the Woods” from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Michigan Tech nature trails.
Spend a wonderful evening exploring the woods! Meet us at the MTU trailhead off of Sharon Avenue at 6:30 pm. Five presenters will be there to take groups for a hike focused on one of the five Michigan Forests presentation themes ~20 hikers per presenter. The five themes include wildlife tracking, a bug’s life in the forest, birds of the north woods, trees and tree ID, and predator/prey relationships. Following the hike, there will be time for questions, or participants can continue to explore on their own!
The Michigan Forests presentation series at the Portage District Library (Jan-June calendar posted at www.wupcenter.mtu.edu is coordinated by the Western Upper Peninsula Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education and Michigan Technological University with funding from the Kinship Foundation.
