  • Center Receives $4,892 Environment Education Grant From EPA !!

$4,892 to GEM Center for Science and Environmental Outreach at Michigan Technological University (1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton) for its Kids Make a Difference program, which will provide an opportunity and incentive for K-12 students, teachers, and youth groups to develop projects that promote environmental education, community service and environmental enhancement. School classes and youth groups may select an environmental topic to study and teach others about, or they may design and implement an action project that will address environmental issues in their community. Students will share their projects through presentations to other students or by publishing an article in their local school or community newspaper or website. All participants will receive Earth Day Participation Award certificates in recognition of their efforts and their names will be entered into a drawing for either an environmental education tool kit or an environmental education field trip.
