10 am - Iron Industry Museum (Negaunee, MI)
Noon – Box lunch in Harbor Park
1 pm – City of Marquette Harbor & Economic Development
Great Lakes Issues – Tom Baldini, U.S. Rep. Stupak’s U.P. representative and former International
Joint Commission (IJC) member
3 pm - Marquette Maritime Museum
6:30 pm – Pictured Rocks N.P. Boat Tour
9:00 pm – Overnight at Sunset Motel on Munising Bay

Tuesday, August 1 (Munising to Sault Ste Marie, MI)
8:30 am – Depart Munising
10 am - Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum
Noon – Drive to Sault Ste. Marie; box lunch enroute
2 pm - Soo Locks Visitor Center
3-5 pm - Soo Boat tour
5:30 pm – Dinner on your own
7 pm – Soo Locks Park in Sault Ste Marie, ON
9:00 pm – Overnight at (Ramada) Ojibway Hotel across from Soo Locks Park in Sault Ste. Marie, MI

8:30 am-Noon - U.S. Coast Guard Vessel Traffic Service
Noon – Lunch at Clyde’s
1 pm – Tour Edison Sault Electric Co. low-head hydroelectric plant & power canal
2 pm – Tour of Valley Camp freighter museum
3 pm – On Your Own: Tower of History Lookout, River of History Museum, and historic homes of Bishop Baraga, Henry Schoolcraft, and Jim Johnston
7 pm – Dinner on your own
9:00 pm – Overnight at (Ramada) Ojibway Hotel across from Soo Locks Park in Sault Ste. Marie, MI

Thursday, August 3 (Sault Ste Marie, MI to Escanaba)
8:30 am – Tour of St. Mary’s Paper & Algoma Steel in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (TBA)
Noon – Box lunch from AngGio’s Panini Grill. Drive to Manistique (2.5 hrs)
3 pm – Tour of Manistique Harbor Superfund Cleanup (TBA)
4 pm – Tour of historic Fayette State Park (former iron smelting site)
6 pm – Drive to Escanaba
7 pm – Dinner
8 pm - Overnight at House of Ludington Hotel in Escanaba

Friday, August 4 (Escanaba to Houghton, MI)
8:30 am – Economics of Great Lakes Shipping by Great Lakes Maritime Academy & Merchant Marine Service(TBA)
11 am - City of Escanaba Port Expansion plan & tour
Noon – Lunch & Group discussion: What are the “big ideas” regarding Great Lakes Maritime Transportation that your students should know about?
1 pm – Course ends. Depart for Houghton (via Marquette)
4 pm – Arrive Houghton

**All participants must bring their birth certificate for crossing the international border into Canada.
