Identify Parts of a Great Lakes Freighter

For Grade 1-5

Objective

This activity will enable students identify parts of

a Great Lakes ship and understand the significance

of that part of the ship to ship operation.

Materials

Large laminated diagram of ship (see below)

Parts of ship – listed on cards*

(I used velcro to attach the cards to the laminated ship;

velcro squares are placed on the ship diagram before you begin.)

Procedure

Overturn all cards. Let students take turns choosing a card and attaching by Velcro to the correct part of the ship.
