NASA John Glenn Research Center
Jim Fitzgerald’s work with NASA includes working with astronauts
during education events from the Shuttle, participating in NASA's Liftoff
to Learning video Program, developing and reviewing NASA educational products
and conducting teacher workshop throughout Michigan and Ohio. Jim was
chosen in 1994 to fly microgravity experiments for education aboard the
NASA KC-135 aircraft. He flew for 4 days and logged 202 "parabolas"
(27 seconds each of "weightless" flight). He also flew 3 days
and logged 150 parabolas aboard the NASA's DC-9 research airplane at Glenn
Research Center.
Topics to be covered:
Ø Comparing the Earth to other planets and moons in our solar
system.
Ø Solar systems: comparing our sun to other stars.
Ø Position and motion of objects in our solar system and galaxy.
Ø Overall size, structure and age of the Universe.
Ø Technology of exploring space- human and non-human.
Ø Research on living systems in space.
Ø NASA Resources.
Registration Fee; $6.00 for lunch and workshop materials for all participants
in CCISD and GOISD.
