2008 "Space TiViTz" TOURNAMENT

Great Lakes Space TiViTz Tournament at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo

The Upper Peninsula Space TiViTz tournament was held on Thursday May 1, 2008 at the Wood Gym of Michigan Tech's Student Development Complex.  250 students in grades 4 to 8 from CLK Elementary, Houghton Elementary, Houghton Middle School, South Range Elementary, Jeffers High School, E.B. Holman, Barkell Elementary and C.J. Sullivan Elementary participated in the tournament.

Dr. Kathryn Clark, Chief Scientist of Human Space Flight for NASA and Vice President at TiViTz, was the Chief of the tournament and presented the awards. Awards were given to top five places in each grade. 

The top two places holders from each grade were invited to participate in the Great Lakes Space TiViTz tournament at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo on May 10, 2008. The Convergence Foundation and Docere Inc.  sponsored the Great Lakes Tournament and covered the cost of the travel to Kalamazoo for students and their families.

The Upper Peninsula Space TiViTz Tournament was hosted by the Western UP Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education and the Michigan Tech's Summer Youth Program.
