2007 "Space TiViTz" TOURNAMENT
"Space TiViTz" is an entertaining, educational game that sneaks in a healthy dose of learning while kids have a blast! The Upper Peninsula TiViTz tournament was be held on Thursday May 3, 2007 at the Wood Gym of the MTU Student Development Complex. Armed with their math skills and problem solving abilities, over 260 students in grades 4 to 8 from Calumet Laurium and Keweenaw Elementary, South Range Elementary, C.J. Sullivan Elementary, Houghton Elementary, E.B. Holman and Jeffers High School participated.
Dr. Kathryn Clark, former Chief Scientist of Human Space Flight for NASA and Vice President at TiViTz, served as the Master of Ceremonies and presented the awards.
The TiViTz Tournament was made possible with funding from the Michigan Space Grant Consortium. The tournament was sponsored by the Western UP Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education and the MTU Department of Educational Opportunity.
