Make the most of northern Michigan’s LONG winters!
TOPICS
- Using the scientific method to design
experiments with snow and other winter phenomena.
- Reasons for the seasons & student
misconceptions.
- How do Michigan animals survive the winter: adaptations and survival strategies.
- Introduction to JOURNEY NORTH, a free, web-based
interdisciplinary science program to track the coming of spring.
Take new
ideas and supplies back to your classroom! All activities are correlated to
Michigan
Content Standards and Benchmarks for science, mathematics & social studies.
REGISTRATION: $55 workshop fee includes activity
guide, childrens’ books, supplies and lunch. Workshop fee is covered for
teachers from schools in the CCISD Professional Development Consortium. Please
make checks payable to Copper Country ISD.
CREDIT: Workshop participants may earn 0.5 credit
from Northern Michigan University.
Participants may register for credit at the workshop.
WHAT TO WEAR: Participants should dress warmly, as part of
the day will be outside.

CCISD Teachers - A van
will be available to transport participants from the CCISD in Hancock to the
Ford Forestry Center, at NO CHARGE. The van will depart CCISD at 8 AM and
