Michigan Tech’s Center for Pre-College Outreach hosted middle- and high-school students at two events. Both aim to spark young students’ interest in STEM.
On Monday, March 25 in the SDC Wood Gym, 4th through 7th graders took part in a TiViTz tournament. TiViTz, which was developed by a Michigan Tech alumna, is a team-based game that shows students it’s cool to be good at math. More than 250 local students participated

About 200 7th- and 8th-grade girls attended Get WISE (Get Women in Science and Engineering) on, Tuesday, March 26 in the SDC Wood Gym. Students were from area schools including Ontonagon and Watersmeet. Get WISE features hands-on engineering challenges, such as making small airplanes that stay in the air for as long as possible and creating bridges able to withstand the most weight possible.
