GLFT Grant Announced

The Western Upper Peninsula Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education, in cooperation with the Michigan Tech Center for Water & Society, Keweenaw Land Trust and Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance has been awarded $20,000 from the Great Lakes Fishery Trust (GLFT) to develop a strategy to actively involve K-12 teachers and students in the protection and restoration of the Great Lakes through teacher professional development, local hands-on stewardship education, and community partnerships.

The goal of the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative is to increase awareness and understanding of the ecology of the Great Lakes so that Michigan residents become active stewards of the Great Lakes and advocates for strategies that support the long-term sustainability of the Great Lakes fisheries.
